Electrostatic cleaning services: a delivery method for a chemical, priced as an event
Electrostatic application charges droplets so they wrap around a surface rather than settling only where they were aimed. It is a delivery method, not a different chemical and not a different standard, and that single fact settles most of the questions buyers have about it. It covers a large area quickly, which is what it is genuinely good at, and it does not remove soil, which is what it is often sold as doing.

Buying it for what it does
- Clean first, then apply. A disinfectant works on a clean surface. Spraying a charged mist over dust and grease produces a treated layer of dust and grease, which is why every credible specification puts a physical clean ahead of an electrostatic pass and why a proposal that offers the spray instead of the clean is offering the wrong thing.
- Price it per event with a named area. This is project work: a crew, a machine, a defined area and a window when the space is empty. Quoted that way it is comparable between contractors. Folded into a monthly figure as an enhanced service it becomes an unexamined recurring cost, which is what happened to a great many contracts after 2020.
- Ask which product and what contact time. The method does not change the label. The product still has a dwell time and the surface still has to stay wet for it, so a machine that covers a room in four minutes has not disinfected a room in four minutes. Whoever is quoting should be able to say the product and the time without looking it up.
Common questions
- Is electrostatic spraying better than wiping?
- It is faster over a large area and it reaches surfaces a wipe misses. It is not a substitute for the physical removal of soil, and the useful specification uses both rather than choosing between them.
- What does it cost?
- Nobody in this record publishes a rate for it. It is quoted per event against an area, and the two published figures here that touch periodic work are a deep-cleaning uplift and a floor refinishing rate, neither of which is this.
- Should it be on a monthly contract?
- Rarely. If it is on yours, ask what it is for and how often it is actually performed, because it is the line most often sold as recurring and bought as a one-off.
