Car dealership cleaning service: a glass showroom, a workshop and a forecourt on one contract
A dealership is three buildings pretending to be one. The showroom is high-specification presentation space where glass and hard floor are the product. The workshop is an industrial environment with oil, tyre marks and swarf. The forecourt and customer areas sit between them. One blended rate across all three reliably means the showroom subsidises the workshop or the workshop is not cleaned at all.

Pricing the three areas separately
- Price the showroom on glass and floor. Internal glass, the entrance and the hard floor are what a customer walking in actually sees, and they need daily attention plus a periodic programme. This is the area where a presentation standard justifies a higher frequency than square footage alone would suggest.
- Price the workshop as industrial. Oil, brake dust and tyre marks are an industrial soil on a sealed concrete floor, and they need method and chemistry that a showroom round does not carry. Specify it as its own area with its own frequency or accept that it will be skipped.
- Decide whether vehicle preparation is in scope. Valeting a car for handover is a different trade with different staff and different insurance, and it is frequently assumed into a cleaning contract by one party and out of it by the other. Name it explicitly, one way or the other.
- Put the customer washroom and waiting area on a daytime frequency. A dealership's waiting area is occupied through the trading day by people who have nothing to do but look at it. It is the strongest case in this building type for a daytime presence rather than an overnight round.
Common questions
- Should one contractor do the showroom and the workshop?
- Usually yes, with two schedules. The efficiency is real and the risk is that the workshop quietly becomes an afterthought, which separate frequencies in the contract prevent.
- Is valeting part of it?
- Not unless you say so. It is a separate trade and most general cleaning contractors will neither quote it nor want it.
- How do the published rates apply?
- To the showroom and customer areas, loosely. The per-square-foot figures here are general commercial rates; a workshop is industrial space and is not what they measured.
